Lasik Post-Op Care

It is important that you use the antibiotic eye drops prescribed to prevent infection. A protective sun shade is provided when going outdoors. You should be careful not to rub or squeeze the eyes hard for 1 week to prevent infection caused by dirty fingers. Common painkillers and sedatives may be prescribed to alleviate discomfort and sleeplessness.

Epi-lasik patients can resume work only after 3-5 days as their vision will turn blurry on the first 2 to 3 days after surgery. However, swimming and vigorous sport activities should be avoided for two weeks. You should avoid crowded and dusty places for one week to reduce the risk of infection. You should also avoid exposure to strong sunlight and wear sunglasses when outdoors. Contact sports should be avoided for three months.

Another important post Lasik care tip: please keep to the scheduled follow-up visits to ensure your eyes are healing properly. Typically, the visits are scheduled 2 days after surgery, five days later, two weeks later, one month and then three months later.
